A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending Fashion Weekend Sydney with two gorgeous fellow bloggers, Ethel from Fashiondiction and Camille from Frilly Skirts. Fashion Weekend is Sydney's essential designer shopping and catwalk event! Featuring 100+ designers selling their collections at huge discounts, manicures, hair styling, make overs, wine bar and a Catwalk show featuring 10 amazing Aussie designers.
Of course I was thrilled at the chance of scoring some amazing bargains, but the main reason we wanted to go was to cover the runway. Our experience (or inexperience, I should say) of shooting the runway on our own was definitely a learning curve! Just imagine three excited bloggers who are used to being in front of the camera, not behind it! Ethel and Camille faired a little worse than I did, with boyfriends who are seasoned photographers these girls were packing what may as well been high tech super computers compared to my mini DSLR. Luckily there was an endless supply of lovely and helpful photogs there to lend a hand with getting the settings right for them!
All in all, I am reasonably happy with my photos and can say that I had a great time meeting lots of people in the biz! Below are some of my favourite pieces from my favourite collections of the night.
BEC & BRIDGE
The Bec & Bridge line featured garments from their Winter/Fall 12/13' collection entitled “Paradiso Bianco Capsule”. The collection was modern, simple and feminine. My favourite was definitely the “Invisible Stripe Tank Dress” which featured perfectly placed horizontal sheer panelling.
NICOLA FINETTI
Nicola Finetti did not disappoint with a strong elegant collection which mixed structured bodices with flowy dresses and draped skirts. My favourite was definitely the strapless dress in a textured gold metallic fabric.
IXIAH
IXIAH's winter line was definitely one of my favourite and most interesting collections. The collection consisted of a variety of textures including leather, lace and tweed creating the perfect mix of feminine and edgy.
BY JOHNNY
By Johnny's collection was by far the most surprising for me. Very different from past collections as the colours he incorporated were much more subdued, however, a strong statement was made by mixing soft ink blot prints with strong bold stripes.
TALULAH
Talulah stayed true to form with a fun and flirty collection consisting of gorgeous florals in candy coloured hues. The collection was made up of modern cuts & silhouettes with feminine details which were stylish and wearable.
CHRISTENSEN COPENHAGEN
Christensen Copenhagen was the collection which closed the show and showed off some great monochrome looks with splashes of vibrant gold and electric blue. My favourite look of the night was the Striped Cape which exuded sophistication and elegance as it came down the runway.
Cool photos! Thanks for sharing. :)
